NaNoWriMo…what was I thinking?!?

Well, several of my blog friends and a relative or two have convinced me to try my hand at NaNoWriMo.  For those of you who may not know, this is National Novel Writing Month.  When you sign up for this you are foolishly bravely deciding to try your hand at writing a novel in 30 days.  Oh my goodness!  The goal is to produce 50,000 words, hopefully coherent and wonderful, between Nov. 1 and Nov. 30.

I am already procrastinating!  I had a very vague idea for a story when I signed up 3 days ago.  Basically a few characters and a setting, with a thought or two about what would happen if these two characters met.  Something interesting happened once I signed up, though.  After the fear and dread subsided, ideas started flowing and coming together.  I think I have an actual story here!  I actually believe I may be able to do this!  And I refuse to be shown up by my 22-year-old niece who is also trying this 🙂

At midnight on Halloween, I jotted down a short paragraph, just to say I started right at the beginning of November 1.  I believe I put in 23 words.  My NaNoWriMo profile page gave me a handy little report that said if I continue at this rate, I will finish by 2018 🙂  Hopefully, I go a little faster than that.

I was going to say that I would not be blogging for the month, but as I am in full procrastination mode, I will probably post more than ever!  We’ll see.  Wish me luck…away we go!!!
